Movin’ On Up

April 24, 2010

Fingers Crossed

Well, it looks like we may finally have a house, and in time for the April first time home buyers tax credit too.

We have seen over 150 homes in about a 4 month period we found this house after about 6 hours of looking on a Saturday and promptly abandoned the rest of our list to go make an offer. This house had only been on the market for 2 weeks or so, and apparently 4 other people had the same idea and made a bid. Fortunately we beat those suckers.

The Family Room

A little bit of details for you. Its a 3 bedroom house built in 1970 at 30th Street between Osborn and Indian School Rd in Phoenix. It has no front so to speak, all you see from the road is a white wall and a garage. Once you go in through its creaky heavy wooden gate you find what is neither a front yard nor back, but is all private oasis with a lovely pool house, a pool, desert landscaping and multiple types of citrus. Not a hint of neighbors. It is the kind of place you could run around nekkid in 24 hours a day without need to draw curtains or a robe. The inside of the house has travertine floors throughout, a giant vaulted wooden ceiling, fireplace, sky lights, and a kitchen that needs a bit of love.

Don’t want to entirely put the cart before the horse here, but we are hopeful that soon this house will be ours and we do have a contract at this point. Things may still fall through, as closing does take a while there is much to be done, so wish us luck!

You can find pictures HERE.

UPDATE: We got our contract back on the last day of April. Just in the nick of time to get the tax credit. We also had our inspection done this week, nothing too scary.

I love the new (potential) house. As you stated – it seems like an oasis. Hopefully, this one will go easier. Hang in there! Glad to see you a little active on your website. I always enjoy sneaking a peek to see what you are up to. Keep us posted on how it is going.

I like the looks of this house and it looks fine for visits from Missouri. Hope you get to close soon and that this one doesn’t need as much of a kitchen. It is beautiful. Enjoy your days on the jury. Love, Aunt Barbi
